1. WFC provides over $600,000 worth of donated time, resources and services annually.
2. We help reduce transportation problems by being conveniently located near populations we serve.
3. We have over 20 community partnerships to assist people with specialists, diagnostic services, pharmaceuticals, dental and vision care.
4. We are a state-licensed Health Care Education and Training Center for local youth/young adults. 5. The estimated cost saving to the county is $15,000/month in reduced Emergency Room visits.
6. In the past two months, we have identified 12 cases of TB and 1 new case of Hepatitis that would have otherwise gone untreated (7 are local youth and 4 were local food service workers). With treatment, many local people avoided exposure and patients learned of their condition before it was serious. By identifying these and other communicable conditions early and paying for their treatment, everyone benefits.
7. There are over 12,000 working poor people in the East County (from United Way publication). By providing free mobile services, we have been able to reach a population that was previously not served by other providers in East Ventura County.
8. A Patient Assistance Program (working with over 10 pharmaceutical companies to access free medication for uninsured patients with chronic health conditions.)
9. Home visits to seniors and other clients without transportation for program assistance.
10. Setting up patient referrals & doing follow-through with those providing the discounted service.
11. A Human Services Health Advocate helps people fill out forms for Medi-Cal, Healthy Families and other programs to see if clients are eligible.
12. Over 70% of the services offered are on a house call basis and offered in the evenings when people are off work.
13. Teens (50% are low income) receive comprehensive exposure to careers in the healthcare field.
Participating students are referred through local High Schools.
Teens give back to their community through their work at the clinic
and feel valued.
The program offers training opportunities to teens interested in
science and the healthcare fields.
Teens go on field trips to learn about different professions.
Teens are trained in basic intake activities (e.g. vitals signs, patient
histories) by healthcare professionals, and learn basic medical
terminology and health education information.
